Your returns and holdings
Each account has a Performance page with its return, its gains and losses, and what you've put in. Open the account and tap Performance at the top.
Where do I find an account's performance?
Open the account from Home. Performance sits in the top corner of the balance card. Tap it to open Account Performance.
On Home, Performance next to your Net Worth shows the same figures across all your accounts.

What does Account Performance show?
| Section | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Allocation | How much of the account is invested, and how much is cash |
| Return Rate | Your return for the period chosen on the chart, and the same figure as a yearly rate |
| Profit and Loss | Your gains over the life of the account: total, unrealized and realized, and the cost basis |
| Contributions | What you've put in over the life of the account: deposits, withdrawals, and the net |
About these numbers, at the bottom, explains how they're worked out.
Past performance is not a guarantee of future results. Investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal.
What do the terms mean?
- Unrealized gain: an investment you still own is worth more than you paid. It's a gain on paper.
- Realized gain: a gain from something that was sold.
- Cost basis: what you paid for the investments you hold now.
- Money-weighted return: a return that counts when you added or took out money, so it reflects your own timing.
Contributions are counted for this account only. An IRA shows what you've put into that IRA.
Why does cost basis say "Updating"?
After a transfer from another firm, the other firm sends what you originally paid. That can take a week or more. Until then, cost basis may show Updating…, Partly available or Unavailable.
What can I see about one holding?
Tap any holding in an account (or under Holdings on Home) to see:
- Price, with a chart from one month to five years
- Your Position: its value, number of shares, cost basis, unrealized gain, the Tax lots behind it, and its target share of the account
- Details: asset class, sector and industry. For a fund, also the fund company, expense ratio, net assets, number of holdings and start date
- Exposure and About: what it's invested in, and a short description
Opened from Home, a holding shows each account that owns it.
If a figure doesn't look right, email support@alooola.com with the account and the figure.
