# Security and privacy

> How alooola protects your account, where your money is held, what SIPC covers, what we do with your information, and what to do if worried.

Your investments are held at Apex Clearing, our clearing firm, not by alooola. Your account is protected by texted codes, optional Face ID, and an encrypted connection.

## How is my account protected?

- **Texted codes** when you sign in, before money moves, and before important changes
- **Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint** sign-in on supported phones
- **App lock:** the app hides your balances when you switch away, and with Face ID on, asks for it when you come back
- **An encrypted connection** between the app and our servers

See [Sign-in, Face ID and passwords](/account-login).

## Does alooola see my bank password?

No. When you [link a bank](/link-your-bank), you sign in on your bank's own screen inside Plaid.

Your bank username and password go to your bank. alooola never sees or stores them.

## Where is my money held?

At **Apex Clearing**, a member of FINRA and SIPC.

SIPC protects securities customers of its members up to $500,000, including $250,000 for claims for cash. It protects you if a brokerage firm fails. **It does not protect against your investments losing value.**

## What do you do with my information?

- **We don't sell it.**
- **We share it only with the services that make your account work,** such as our clearing firm, our identity-check provider, Plaid, and Calendly when you book a call.
- **Documents in your vault** can be seen by you, your spouse if you share the vault, and your alooola advisors.

Our Privacy Policy is linked at the bottom of **Profile**. Our disclosures are at [alooola.com/disclosures](https://alooola.com/disclosures).

## How can I protect my account?

- Use a password you don't use anywhere else.
- Turn on Face ID or fingerprint sign-in.
- Keep your phone number current in **Profile**, then **Personal Info**, so our codes reach you.
- Add a [trusted contact](/beneficiaries#what-is-a-trusted-contact), so we have someone to call if we can't reach you.

## What will alooola never ask me?

We will **never** ask for your password, and we will never ask you to move money to "keep it safe." A message that asks for either is not from us.

Forward anything suspicious to [support@alooola.com](mailto:support@alooola.com), and don't click its links.

## What if I think someone got into my account?

1. **Change your password.** Open **Profile**, tap **Security**, then **Change Password**.
2. **Contact us right away.** Email [support@alooola.com](mailto:support@alooola.com) or call [484-275-5525](tel:+14842755525).
3. **Tell us what you saw and when.** It helps us look into it.
