# Sign-in, Face ID and passwords

> Ways to sign in to alooola (email, Apple, Google), the texted code, Face ID and fingerprint, resetting your password, and signing out.

You can sign in to alooola with your email and password, with Google, or on iPhone with Apple. After you sign in, we usually text a six-digit code to your phone to confirm it's you.

## How do I sign in?

The first screen offers four buttons:

- **Continue with Apple:** your Apple account (iPhone only)
- **Continue with Google:** your Google account
- **Sign in with email:** your email address and password
- **Create an account:** a new account. See [Open an account](/getting-started)

## When do I need a texted code?

After you sign in, we text a code to the phone number on your account. We don't ask again if:

- you entered a code in the last ten minutes,
- you sign in with Face ID or a fingerprint on your own phone, or
- you sign in with Apple on an iPhone where you've already entered a code.

We also text a code before money moves, and before changes like a new password, stopping a recurring deposit, changing 401(k) contributions or closing your account. Keep your phone number up to date in **Profile**, then **Personal Info**.

## How does signing in with Apple or Google work?

- **If its email matches your alooola account,** the two connect the first time. We text you a code to confirm.
- **If you're new to alooola,** the button starts a new account.
- **If your phone number is already on an alooola account,** you'll see **You already have an account**. Enter that account's password and tap **Connect and Sign In**.

To connect or disconnect Apple or Google later, open **Profile**, tap **Security**, and use the switches. If Apple or Google is your only way in, the app asks you to set a password before you disconnect it.

## How do I turn on Face ID or fingerprint sign-in?

After you sign in, the app offers **Sign in faster with Face ID**. Tap **Continue**. On Android it's called **Face Recognition** or **Fingerprint**.

You can turn it on or off any time in **Profile**, then **Security**. With it on, the app asks for Face ID when you open it and when you come back to it.

Face ID turns off if you change your email address or password. Turn it back on in **Security**.

## How do I reset my password?

1. **On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password?**
2. **Enter your email address** and tap **Send Code**.
3. **Enter the code we text you.** It goes to the phone number on your account.
4. **Choose a new password,** type it twice, and tap **Reset Password**.

The code always comes by text, never by email. If your phone number has changed, [contact us](/contact) instead.

Signed up with Apple or Google and never set a password? Add one in **Profile**, then **Security**, then **Set a Password**.

## How do I change my password?

Open **Profile**, tap **Security**, then **Change Password**. We text you a code to confirm.

## How do I sign out?

Open **Profile**, scroll down, tap **Sign Out**, and confirm. Signing out doesn't close your account or stop any scheduled deposits.
